Graye was a member of the Highland United Methodist Church in Raleigh. She worked for 37 years as an Organic Chemistry Instructor at NC State, retiring in 1997. Graye was an avid Wolfpack fan, and had season tickets for football and basketball. She enjoyed traveling throughout her retirement and most of all was a devoted Sister, and Aunt.
Graye was predeceased by her husband Charles R. Shaw, March 14, 1990 and her sister Faye McArtan.
She is survived by her sister Mary Jane Samonds, her niece Mary Katherine Smith, and husband Kenneth, her nephews: Michael, Robert, and Johnny McArtan, her great nieces: Megan Elease, Patricia Leigh, Cortney Graye and her great-great niece Penelope Katherine.
A time of Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm Saturday January 10, 2015 at Brown-Wynne 300 Saint Mary's St. Raleigh, where a Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to NC State Wolfpack Club.
