Zora Smith Felton

Zora Smith Felton, 65, passed away on November 16, 2016. She was born to the late Col. Leslie Davis Smith and Allie Whitehurst Smith on April 10, 1951 in Pitt County, NC. She will be greatly missed as a mother, “Wah Wah”, sister, friend, teacher, and community leader. Her teaching career, while at Leesville High School and Sanderson High School in Raleigh, was where she became an advocate for both teachers and students. Her presence in the Wake County Public School system made a difference in the lives of many. She taught Social Studies for many years. In 2013, she proudly served on the Wake Co. School Board and was recently re-elected to the Board.

Zora is survived by her children: Allison Smith and husband, Jesse, Amanda Felton and husband, Jose, and Adam Felton, sisters: Reba Burke and husband, David, Brenda Olson and husband, Richard, grandchildren: Chase Smith, Peyton Smith, and Manny Barahona. She is preceded in death by her brother, Leslie Smith, Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 4400 Pleasant Grove Church Rd., Raleigh. Burial will immediately follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. The family will receive guests on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh.
