Zudie Poole Gardner

She dedicated her life to raising her 3 children, creating a warm, loving and welcoming home for all to gather. Never meeting a stranger and always offering a helping hand. She loved cooking to bring everyone together, every day an occasion for her, to remind us all, of the love she carried. Her giving soul is beyond words.

Her love and dedication, always making every moment and memory matter are what her children hold close to their hearts. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren added even bigger blessings to her life and heart. The amazing bond she had with each one, always knowing “Hamma” was there. Making memories with them daily, whether it be sitting and watching t.v., making crafts, fishing, beach trips and more. She made sure there is no memory too big or too small, and that the memories will last a lifetime.

She is survived by her Mother, Sophia; Son, Dewayne (Julie); Daughter, Crystal, David, Jeff; The Father of her children, Lonnie; Grandchildren, Kevin, Angela, Amber, Nicole, Melissa, Adalynn, Aiyana, Jaden, Jerbear, Zayden, and 5 Great Grandchildren.

She is proceeded in death by the love of her life, Joe; Her son J.D.; Father, B.H.; Bonus Father, Richard; Brothers, Billy and Ronnie; Grandson, Austin; and Great Granddaughter Skylar Olivia.

We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support for mama through her journey these last few years. A special thank you to the devoted staff at Amedisys for their care and support.

A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home. Procession to Raleigh Memorial Park by Horse Drawn Caisson followed. The family greeted visitors prior to the service, beginning at 11:30am in the funeral home.
