

He was born June 27, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to parents Elizabeth “Betsy” (Pittaway) and Alfred O. Manke Sr. Al worked as a mold maker for Parker Hanafin in Kent, Gougler in Kent, and Loral Aircraft in Akron. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy and later joined the Deerfield American Legion.
God and family were always priorities in Al’s life. Al and his wife were founding members of the Bridge Bible Church in Brimfield. He also enjoyed golfing and taking his golden retriever, “Jacksie”, on walks, often stopping for ice cream for the two of them.
Al is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years Debbie Manke, his children: Alfred (Lori) Manke III, Bill (Sara) Manke, and Mary Manke, as well as his grandchildren: Lila and Hazel Manke. Al is also survived by his sisters Sue (Terry) Lowe and Martha Lewis, along with his lifelong friend Mark Opfer.
Friends will be received Tuesday, February 28, 2017, from 5:00 – 6:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, where funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Dave Dickson and Pastor Ron Embleton at 6:00 PM. Military honors will follow by the US Navy Honor Guard.
