He was born May 19, 1933, in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents Gust and Rebecca (Nash) Stamas. Andrew proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Rootstown.
Andy learned about printing from his uncles at the age of 17 in Cleveland. That knowledge led to a lifelong career in the printing trade, including teaching students at Maple Wood Career Center for many years.
Andy is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Marian Stamas, his children: Michele (Michael) Forsyth and Dr. Steven (Nicki) Stamas, his grandchildren: Emily (Chris) Gibson, Kelsey (Troy Horne) Forsyth, Brittany (Matthew) Brockbank, Lindsay (Tyger) Riggs, Jacob Stamas, and Tyler Stamas, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Andy was preceded in death by his first wife Fran Stamas, his parents, and his siblings George, Katherine, and Jimmy.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday, March 19, 2019, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM with a funeral service officiated by Bishop Jeremiah Harris at 7:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Burial will take place with full military honors on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at 10:00 AM at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
