Born on July 5, 1925, in Mineral Ridge, Ohio, the daughter of Harmon and Lucile (Sparks) King. Barbara was a retired teacher and counselor. She began her career in Kirtland for one year then went on to the Crestwood school system and subsequently retired from Aurora schools. Barbara had always been a very energetic and active woman. She enjoyed playing tennis, swimming and golfing and loved antiquing. Barbara also enjoyed time spent with her late husband attending Model “A” club activities throughout eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. According to her family, she “hated ants and killed them with glee”!
Barbara is survived by her sons Bill (Rita) Welch, Todd (Pat) Welch and Rollie (Lauren) Welch. She also leaves her grandchildren Andrew (Janice) Welch, Allison (David) Adams; her sister Beverly (Ray) Zimmerman and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents and her husband William Welch preceded Barbara in death.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and due to the Corona Virus, a Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date. In her memory, everyone should remain active and enjoy the outdoors. Her family truly believes by doing this she was able to live a happy, prosperous and long life to the age of 94.
Barbara’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to all of the nurses and aids at Vista Veranda for their wonderful care and compassion given to Barbara.
