

She was born December 1, 1926, in Sebring, Ohio, to parents Albert and Vera (Heestand) Tescher. Bernie graduated in 1944 from Goshen (currently West Branch Schools). As a teenager, she enjoyed playing the guitar. In her earlier years, she was the co-owner of Diamond Feed and Supply, as well as CJ Brogan Realty. Bernie was a longtime member of the Palmyra United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. Bernie worked along with her husband (Fred) on their family farm, “Hard Time Acres”, for many years.
She is survived by her husband Fred Dearth; her children: Cindy (Dexter) Le-Mon, Claudia (Robert) Lewis, and James Brogan; step-children: Gary (Sue) Dearth, Paul Dearth, Frederick Dearth Jr., Linda (Mickey) Williams, and Carl Dearth. Bernie’s memory will also be cherished by her 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, her sister Mary Lou Oroz, and her brother Atlee (Eileen) Tescher.
Friends will be received Friday, February 20, 2015, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Joseph Le-Mon and Pastor Donald Booth at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at West Cemetery in Palmyra Township.
