

She was born March 22, 1925, in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of the late John and Julia (Dorfel) Hegedus. Betty retired from the Norton Company of Akron. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of several leagues. Betty also enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking, dancing, and fishing. She spent much of her time shopping, tending to her flower garden, and watching the Cleveland Indians. Betty will be missed by many, loved by all, and remembered forever.
Survivors include her daughters: Carolyn (Sidney) Farley, Janet Hilker, and Maggie Andrea; her brother: Jim (Betty) Hegedus; as well as grandchildren: Kim McElhaney, Chuck Chamberlin, Danielle Chamberlin, Brian Hilker, Chad Hilker, Joseph Andrea, and Joshua Andrea; and her great-grandchildren: Matthew McElhaney, Sandra McElhaney, Logan Hilker, and Johnny Ziats IV.
She was preceded in death by her husband Louis Zavodny, her sister Margaret Herod, her brothers John, Andy, Steve, and Joe Hegedus, and the father of her children, Harold F. Taylor.
Friends will be received Friday, September 9, 2011, from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM funeral service officiated by Pastor David Ballert at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery.
