Brett Anthony Cady was born in Youngstown, Ohio on January 8, 1975 to parents Lee and Connie Cady. After high school he attended Ann Arbor College in Michigan to pursue his love of forestry. He moved to Oregon and loved the natural beauty of the mountains and forests there. Upon returning to Ohio, Brett’s love of hiking and exploring never ended, each new destination was an adventure. Whether road trips to famous sites, hiking mountains and waterfalls, or discovering a really good place for a craft beer and a burger. He loved almost all makes and models of classic cars, and spent many years lovingly restoring special ones.
However you knew him, and by whatever name you had for him, know he had a special place in his heart for you. Whether you called him Brettinski, The Brett, Brettiful, Brother Brett or Brettt the Great and All Powerful, know he took each name as a token of love with him to his eternal rest. He represented something different to each person, was something special to you and you alone it seemed, but that never changed that he would be the first to offer assistance to anyone in need.
Brett lived his life according to Brett’s Law, and you may not have agreed with his philosophy, but yet had to admire that he never waivered in what he thought was right. Brett did not want empty accolades, just an honest appreciation (or constructive critique!) of the things he accomplished that had meaning to his life. Likewise, he was the first to tell you he was proud of you or if perhaps another try was needed!
Brett is survived by his children Brandon (Antoinette) Hall and Brieyla (Augustus) Blakemore and sister Heather (William) Lambert. Additionally surviving siblings include Brian Cady (Kathleen), Barbara (Greg) Yoerg, Ken Cady (Liz), and Karen (Guy) Strang. Many nieces and nephews, and his grandson Raiden Hall. Brett was preceded in death by his father Lee Cady, mother Connie Cady and brother Ron Cady.
Brett leaves behind many friends, all of whom were special to him in each one’s unique way, and you know who you are. Thank you also to his dear friend Caden who shared many memories with him up until the end.
The family wishes to thank Brett’s self-described life partner Jessie Bryner, with all the love and appreciation that we have in our hearts. She has been by his side for decades, with him through life’s trials and tribulations, thick and thin and helping us help him through the end.
Cremation has taken place and a private memorial will be announced at a later time. Inurnment will take place at Palmyra West Cemetery.
