He was born October 8, 1944, in Weston, West Virginia, to parents Humes Bryan and Ruble (Ware) DeVaughn. Carl left school at an early age, but earned his GED in 1987, the same year his daughter graduated. He proudly served in the US Army and retired from Filmco Plastics in Aurora after nearly 40 years of service.
Carl enjoyed the outdoors, especially going on his daily three mile walks and fishing. He also had to watch the news every day; most of the time, with his eyes closed, but could still tell when someone changed the channel. Most of all, he adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them and going to their sporting events and other activities.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Neomi DeVaughn; his children: Carl DeVaughn Jr., Tami DeVaughn, Erin (Jaime) Timmons, Jessica (Brian) McLean; as well as his grandchildren: Alex, Allison, Ben, Justin, Tyler, Connor, Carleigh, Vance, Ryan, Bella, Hunter, Heidi, and his brother-in-law Paul (Linda) Zahler.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers and four sisters, and his special aunt and uncle Daisy and Florris Wilson who raised him as a young boy.
