Carolyn Mary Coe

She was born January 2, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Perry and Virginia Ruffin. Her family moved to Ravenna in 1930 where she attended Immaculate Conception school and graduated from Ravenna High School in 1943. She worked at Black and Decker in Kent as a typist for four years, and then she married the love of her life, James Coe, on June 19, 1948. Later she worked part time at various businesses in Ravenna as her family grew.

Carolyn was an excellent seamstress and was noted for her fine work in crocheting and knitting. All of her friends, children, and grandchildren have many blankets to cherish from her. During their 64 years of marriage, she and James enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing, going to antique shows and flea markets, and travelling on ocean cruises and bus trips.

She is survived by her husband, James of Ravenna, son Rick (Heather) Coe of Ravenna, daughter Marilyn (John) Wanacheck of Ravenna, grandsons Jason Coe, Joshua (Karen) Coe, granddaughters Nicole (Doug) Potts, and Abby Wanacheck, sister-in-law Helen (Fred) Edmonds

She was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Ruffin of California, and sister-in-law Nathalie Stefancik of Akron.

We wish to thank the staff of the Woodlands at Robinson for the love and care she received all her years. We will all truly miss, but remember her infectious smile and kind words for everyone.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Father James Lang will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Church, 409 W. Main St., Ravenna. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
