Charles “Dan” Everly, 73, of Randolph Township, Ohio, passed away on November 14, 2025, leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, unforgettable stories, and the kind of joy that came naturally to someone who never took life too seriously.
Born on March 31, 1952, in Maryland, Dan had a gift for humor from the start. He could turn any moment into a joke, lighten any room he walked into, and bring a smile to even the toughest days. His laughter was contagious, and his sense of humor, sometimes mischievous, always genuine—became one of the things people loved most about him.
Fishing was his happy place. Whether he was casting a line at dawn or swapping tall tales about the “monsters” he almost caught, he found peace and purpose in the simple rhythm of the water. Over the years he shared countless fishing trips with family and friends, turning each outing into a memory stitched together with jokes, camaraderie, and the occasional fish that really did get away.
Dan also had a lifelong love for cars, enjoying every moment spent working on them and restoring classics. He went to car shows where he delighted in sharing his passion with family and friends. His enthusiasm for cars will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
His dogs were more than pets—they were his loyal sidekicks. They followed him from room to room, rode shotgun on adventures, and patiently listened to every story, every joke, and every fishing tale. Their devotion made his life brighter, and he loved them with his whole heart.
Dan was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who gave generously, loved deeply, and always showed up with a grin that let you know everything would be okay. He brought warmth, humor, and light to the people lucky enough to know him.
He is survived by his wife Eileen Everly, his sons Matt (Natalie) Everly, Justin (Laura) Everly and Keith (Sara) Porter, Mike (Beth) Porter and daughter Keri (Derek) Porter, siblings Karen (John) Staats, Mark (Annette) Everly, Donald (Sandy) Everly, Doug (Susie) Talbott and Tammy (Erik) Gaadt. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, family and friends, who will forever miss his laughter, his hugs, and the way he could turn an ordinary moment into something worth remembering.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Chuck” Everly and Cleota Harsh.
A celebration of his life will be held on November 29, 2025, from 11-3pm at Randolph Community Center, 1657 OH-44, Atwater, OH 44201, lunch to start at Noon where friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and honor a man who lived with heart, humor, and a fishing pole in hand.
May his spirit rest in peace, surrounded by calm waters, good company, and dogs who never tire of listening to one more story.
