Cherie Diane Miller, 78, of Somersworth, NH, quietly and peacefully slipped away on February 26, 2024, with her sister Gloria Perrine by her side. Cherie was born November 24, 1945, to Roy and Hulda Miller of Kent, OH. She attended special classes at Kent State University School and Happy Day School in Ravenna, OH. Cherie loved to sing and dance to the music of Pat Boone and Elvis Presley, put puzzles together, and took great joy in her gift of playing music by ear on both the piano and the organ. The Miller family often traveled and Cherie enjoyed visiting the 48 contiguous states and several Canadian provinces.
Cherie was a member of the United Methodist Church of Kent where she helped her mom set tables for church dinners. She also enjoyed activities at the historical Kelso House in Brimfield, OH, where her parents volunteered.
In 1995, Cherie moved to Dover, NH, to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and George Perrine. She joined St. John’s United Methodist Church where she could be seen every Sunday at the end of the first row pew. Cherie was visibly irritated if someone dared to sit in her self-assigned seat! She helped set tables for church dinners, served snacks in the nursery room on Sunday mornings, and loved to search for bargains at the church fair. Cherie continued to enjoy trips especially to Branson, MO and Disney World. She also looked forward to walks around the neighborhood with George and Gloria, time spent reading and playing games on her Kindle Fire, and watching and playing with the cats. Cherie always enjoyed P.E.O. Bed and Breakfast visitors and Friendship Force guests from around the world who stayed at her family’s home. In 2019, her family moved to Somersworth, NH, where they lived with her niece, Lisa Perrine.
Cherie’s favorite things included chocolate, mashed potatoes, ice cream, all things purple and cats. She will be remembered by her sweet smile, her stubbornness, her bravery in facing change and grief, her kindness, and helpfulness.
Cherie was predeceased by her parents and her brother-in-law George Perrine. She is survived by her sister Gloria Perrine and her niece Lisa Perrine of Somersworth, NH, her niece Anne Trefethen and her husband of Dover, NH, and cats Devan, Sir Hairison, and Lady Bella.
A special thank you to everyone at Bellamy Fields Assisted Living, Watson Fields Assisted Living and Cornerstone VNA Hospice for filling Cherie’s last months with happiness, fun and love and her last days with peace and comfort. Thanks too for the loving care you gave us, her loving family, as we went through this time with her.
