November 21, 1955 – February 12, 2025
With profound sadness and enduring love, we announce the passing of Cherry Louise Bailey Sheets on February 12, 2025, after courageously battling many health challenges. She faced every trial with unwavering strength, grace, and faith.
Cherry lived a life full of purpose, kindness, and devotion. She held many roles throughout her career—cosmetologist, church secretary for her beloved Edinburg United Church, medical biller, and florist—but none brought her greater joy than being a Mom and a Meemaw. She cherished her six children and their spouses beyond measure: Eric (Rachel) Dillon, Melissa (Audie) Dills, Sara (Scott) Kinter, Kay (Brandon) Keck, Rachel Sheets, and Daniel Sheets. Just when she thought her heart was full, she became a Meemaw to Landon, Elizabeth, Seth, Nathan, Tessa, and David, and her love for them knew no bounds.
Cherry also leaves behind her adored siblings, John (Barb) Bailey and Denise Lemon, as well as nephews, Josh Bailey, Wayne Lemon, and Michael Bailey.
She now joins in Heaven those who went before her—her loving parents, Neely and Rita Bailey, and her brother, Adrian.
Her life was a testament to her faith as she walked beside Jesus every day. She was the epitome of love and understanding, always offering wisdom, humor, and a touch of chocolate. Whether she was reading, writing, painting, playing the piano, or singing in the church choir, Cherry embraced life with a heart full of joy.
A true lover of all God’s creations, Cherry adored her fur grandbabies as well, especially Kratos, the Siberian Husky, who held a special place in her heart. Cherry found peace and wonder in the world around her. She had a remarkable knowledge of trees, flowers, and gardening, and she delighted in sharing that wisdom with others. As a young florist, she used her creativity to bring beauty into the lives of those around her. She found endless happiness in watching things grow her entire life—both in her garden and in the people she loved.
From a young age, Cherry deeply loved adventure and community, and she was proud to be a Camp Fire Girl. She carried the values of service, friendship, and resilience with her throughout her life, inspiring those around her to do the same.
Cherry’s love was often felt in the kitchen, where she carried on her mother’s incredible home cooking tradition. Her meals were cherished by all, and her recipes will be treasured and passed down for generations. Her cooking wasn’t just about her love of food-it was about bringing people together, creating memories, and sharing love in every bite.
Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched. Her family will forever cherish the lessons, laughter, and love she shared so generously.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many medical professionals and caregivers who provided support along her long journey.
Per Cherry’s wishes, private services and cremation will take place under the coordination of Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home and Reverend Susan Lehosky. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cherry’s honor can be made to her beloved Edinburg United Church.
