Cheryl Darlene (Slack) Dunham Polimene, 67, of Ravenna, Ohio passed away peacefully at home, in the arms of her husband Dennis, on Thursday, May 8, 2014, after a courageous battle against ovarian cancer for more than 11 years. Cheryl was born February 26, 1947, in Warren, Pennsylvania. She grew up and lived in Sheffield, Pennsylvania for most of her life, but has resided in Ravenna, Ohio for the past 16 years.
Sherry was a homemaker and took great pride in her home, family and friends. She was well known for her delicious baked goods and home-cooked meals, which she lavishly showered on her family and friends. She was most known for her delectable pies, especially her apple and peach Dutch crumb pies. Family meant everything to her and she focused her time and energy on them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Lillian (McMillen) Slack and her first husband Clyde Pete Dunham.
Sherry is survived by her husband of 37 years Dennis Polimene, children: Lisa (Robert) Jones of Lancaster Pa, Jeff Dunham of Sheffield Pa, Heather (Steven) Egrek of Ravenna Ohio, Christina (David) Cooley of Aurora Ohio, a sister, Roberta (Paul) Kosko of Reynoldsville Pa, and a brother James (Luella) Slack of Sheffield Pa. Sherry’s memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren: Sydney (Jeremy) Hunter, Hannah (Jeremy) Shertzer, Kylie Jones, Jeffrey Dunham, Marissa Dunham, and Connor Cooley, as well as her great granddaughter Haylen Hunter, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Sheffield United Methodist Church, 11 W. Main St., Sheffield, PA. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, May 18, 2014, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the Borden-Lloyd Funeral Home, 203 W. Main St., Sheffield, PA.
