Darlene M. Pettigrew

She was born December 31, 1927, in Deerfield, Ohio, to parents William and Estella (Jeffress) Carver. Darlene was a longtime resident of Edinburg, Ohio, where she lovingly raised nine children. Being a Mom was her full time job to which she truly enjoyed and devoted her life. She loved watching her children, and later her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, play sports. If there was a Pettigrew in the lineup, Darlene was in the bleachers cheering them on.

She enjoyed and participated in bowling for many years. Darlene was a fan of the Andy Griffith Show and looked forward to attending Mayberry events annually with her son and daughter. She was also a longtime fan of Elvis Presley and loved his music.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years Frank E. Pettigrew Sr., her son Jimmy L. Pettigrew, her brothers: Donald, Billy, Merle, and Raymond Carver, her sisters: Marjorie Carver and JoAnn Stumphf, and her sons-in-law: Robert Montgomery and David Cueni.

Darlene is survived and will be missed by her brother Willard (Nadine) Carver, sister-in-law Eleanor Carver, and children: Ruthanne Montgomery, Diane Cueni, Frank (Amy) Pettigrew Jr., David (Sharon) Pettigrew, Lonnie (Linda) Pettigrew, Mark (Laurie) Pettigrew, Timmy (Sandy) Pettigrew, and Matthew (Melody) Pettigrew. Darlene is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received Monday, August 16, 2021, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM with funeral services officiated by Pastor Timothy Paroz at 1:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Interment will follow at Edinburg Cemetery.

Darlene volunteered as a member of the Edinburg Embers Auxiliary, and memorial donations may be sent in her name to the Edinburg Fire Department or the Edinburg United Church. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.wood-kortright-borkoski.com.
