David was born at home on February 9, 1940 in Palmyra, Ohio to parents David and Leeta (Middleton) Sampson Sr. David was retired from Trexler Rubber in Ravenna after a 34 year career as a welder, machinist and fabricator. He loved to repair tractors, mow the grass and just be outside. He built his own house and as a “Jack of all Trades” could fix or fabricate anything. David was also the owner of Sampson Welding. He really loved barber shop singing and enjoyed his longtime participation with the Warren Stephen Foster Chorus, the Akron Derby Town Chorus, the Country Gentleman Quartet and the Dandy Demons Quartet. His children fondly remember the men practicing in their kitchen. Most of all he provided a wonderful, loving home for his family.
David is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara (Huggins) Sampson and their children: Connie (Mike) Hall, Kathy Sampson and Jennifer (Mike) Smith. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Meganne (Jason) Braddock, Amanda (Craig) Gilli, Zac Dailey, Amber (Travis Adkins) Dailey and great-grandchildren: Aurora, Carson, Wyatt and Connor. He also leaves his sisters: Frances Davis and Ruth (Dick) Gintert and his sister-in-law Linda Huggins.
David was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings: Freda Ward, Irma Head, Helen Sampson, Thomas Sampson, Robert Sampson, Donna Jean Mound and great-grandchild Jordan.
