February 16, 1950 - September 7, 2025
Debbie Hooper, a beacon of love, kindness, and warmth, took a 7-minute walk to her heavenly mansion on September 7, 2025, at the age of 75. Born in Akron, Ohio to Glenn Dennison & Ethelda (Hall), Debbie was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew her.
A graduate of Barberton High School, class of 1968, Debbie went on to become a skilled cosmetologist, working for over 40 years, including her time at GOJO Industries, where she retired in 2015. Her passion for helping others and making people feel beautiful was evident in her work and personal life.
Debbie's love for family and community was unwavering. She was a dedicated member of the Emblem Club, Buchtel high school Booster Club and played a vital role in her family's life, including her husbands, James Krajcovic & Joseph Hooper, and her daughter, Michelle. Her grandchildren, James, Jason, and Michael Fisher, were the lights of her life. Though she had stepchildren from her marriage to Joseph, her relationship with them was complicated, especially after his passing.
Beyond her family, Debbie's daughter's closest friends, Laura Beth Arnott and her husband, David, were like adopted children to her. Her love and generosity extended to all, and she was known for her warm smile, welcoming nature, and infectious sense of humor. Debbie knew no strangers.
Debbie's passions included baking, cooking, and trying new & different ethnic recipes. She was a talented cake decorator, completing a Wilton cake decorating class, and loved to create special treats for family and friends. Her love of food was only rivaled by her love of people, and she took great joy in feeding and nurturing those around her.
One of Debbie's greatest joys was dancing. Even in her 70's, she would out-dance younger folks, and her brown and blue cowgirl boots became legendary in the care facilities where she lived. Her family plans to commemorate her love of dance with a special decoration featuring her beloved boots.
Debbie's legacy is one of love, kindness, and acceptance. She taught her daughter the importance of treating everyone with respect and dignity, regardless of their background or circumstances. Her impact on those who knew her will be felt for generations to come.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to a charity that supports dementia research or care facilities/Hospice that provide comfort and joy to those in need.
Debbie is survived by her daughter, Michelle Krajcovic Owens; grandchildren, James (Shayla), Jason, and Michael Fisher; half-brothers, Donald Leinwand (Tami) and the memory of her half-sisters and brothers, Jeanette Weisberg, Carter Leinwand, and Keith Lee; nieces Mary, Winnie, Missy, Angie & Courtney & nephews Bill, Robert, Don & Kirk as well as extended family.
Rest in peace, Debbie, your love, laughter, and legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
