Don was born at home in Fort Douglas, Utah on August 9, 1938 to the late Otis R. and Leota (Spencer) Bowles. Don, after attending both West Point and Annapolis, enjoyed a 35-year distinguished career in the Army. He then spent the next 20 years designing training systems for Goodyear and Lockheed Martin, which gave him the unique opportunity to fly several different planes.
Don’s passion for magic started at the age of 12, which led to a lifetime of professional stage and close up performances that affected so many lives. One of Don’s favorite things to do was spend time with his family.
Donald was a devout member of Community Bible Church, where he was active with teaching Sunday school and Bible Study; he also served as a Lay Minister for many years.
Besides his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his son-in-law Tom Lamp, and his brothers Otis R. Bowles, Jr. and Lee Bowles.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Betty Bowles, and Sister-in-Law, Ann Pound. He leaves his daughter René Lamp and his son Brian Bowles, daughter-in-law Ginger Bowles, two grandsons Xander and Ethan Bowles, and his sister Pat Kennedy.
Celebration of life will start at 1PM, Saturday, December 16th at the Community Bible Church, 3671 Tallmadge Rd. in Rootstown with Pastor Scott Hindel, officiant; where friends may call from 11-1PM prior to the service.
