

He was born July 14, 1934, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents William Theodore and Julia Leona (Miller) Leightner. After high school, Don enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country.
Don’s career spanned several decades in the newspaper industry, beginning with the Times-Leader in Martins Ferry, Ohio. He then moved on to the Record-Courier and spent 50 years with Dix Publishing, retiring as a press supervisor.
Don loved to go camping and fishing with his family. He was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club. Don and his wife Jean traveled to many areas around the world with Switzerland being his favorite. Above all, Don found great pride and joy in watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren ride horses and play sports.
Don is survived by his beloved wife Jean Marie (Little) Leightner, who he married on April 4, 1954. He is also survived by his daughter Deni (Denny) Lemasters, his son Jeffrey Leightner, his grandchildren: Craig (Taylor) Lemasters, Lindsay Leightner, Dalton (Helen) Leightner, and Seth Leightner, as well as his great-granddaughter Avalee Lemasters and his brother Richard "Dick" (Josy) Leightner.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Kera Lemasters Leskovec, and his sister Gerry McMillan.
