He was born July 26, 1933, in Philippi, West Virginia, to parents James Thomas and Elsie (Overfield) Daugherty. Donnie proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. He retired from Chrysler in Twinsburg in 1988 after many years of employment.
Donnie was a devoted member of the Ravenna Church of Christ. He loved his church and his family. Donnie married his beloved Louise Trader on September 8, 1956. Together they raised their family with love and kindness. Sadly, she passed away on April 25, 2015. He was also preceded by his sister Aggie Saffle.
Donnie is survived by his children: Steve (Sherry) Daugherty of Philippi, WV, Deb Ferrell of Kent, Diana (Mike) Fields of Ravenna, Sheila (Jamie) McCoy of Wheeling, WV, and Jeff (Loretta) Daugherty of Ravenna, as well as all of his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donnie is also survived by his siblings: Shirley (Lloyd) Shockey, James Daugherty, Bill (Wilma) Daugherty, Ernie (Barb) Daugherty, Mae (Sonny) Foreman, Henry (Sheila) Daugherty, Johnny Daugherty, and Tressie Tuttle, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Donnie enjoyed working on and restoring classic cars. He also liked to travel, going on several trips with his family throughout the western United States and the Smokey Mountains. Donnie will be missed for his friendly, outgoing personality. He never met a stranger and could carry on a conversation with everyone.
Friend and family will be received Thursday, January 23, 2020, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Funeral services will be officiated by Minister Bill Hopkins at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 24, 2020, at the Church of Christ, 3897 Summit Rd, Ravenna. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park with military honors.
