

She was born on October 19, 1932, in Connellsville, Pennsylvania. Eleanor is survived by her children: Chris (Mauro) Montes of Edinburg, Robert (Deborah) Wingard, Eric (Tori) Noel, Loren (Karen) Noel all of Rootstown, and Denise (Robert) Maylone of Alliance. Her memory will also be cherished by her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eleanor retired under the Public Employees Retirement System with twenty five years of full time service and three additional years of part-time service. She began employment in 1982 at the Northeast Ohio Universities College of Medicine working in the accounting department for seven years and then promoted to the bookstore manager position. She served in this position for an additional five years and retired from full time service in 1994. The next day, she was accepted for a part-time position with the Continuing Medical Education Department and retired permanently in 1998 due to an illness. Eleanor held many office positions during her working years prior to going to NEOUCOM, she worked as an administrative assistant for the United Way of Portage County for several years. She was also employed by both the County Engineers Office and the County Sanitary Engineers Office in the accounting and payroll departments for a combined total of 9 years.
Eleanor was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Navy WAVES and specializing in the communication field. While in Teletype School in Bainbridge, Maryland, she graduated as the Honor Wave of her class and was given her choice of duty stations. She chose Jacksonville, Florida. Immediately after her discharge, she moved to Waverly, Ohio and obtained a position in the Security Department at the Goodyear Atomic Plant.
In 1998, the Internet Miniature Pinscher Service was created and she was a charter member. Eleanor’s love of these little dogs gave her much pleasure and she helped many, many little ones that were abused or abandoned by giving them a safe home until they could finally be adopted.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Richard Noel, her brother Thomas Denvir, and her grandson Billy Ben Smith II.
Eleanor has requested no calling hours, and a private family service will be held at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.wood-kortright-borkoski.com.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Cleveland Clinic, especially the G-50 ICU Unit for the care and compassion given to Eleanor. Also, the family would like to thank the staff of Kent Dialysis. While there, Eleanor created many new friendships with the staff and fellow patients.
