Elsie was born in Akron, Ohio to Frank and Edna (Hampton) Edwards on August 12, 1932. She had enjoyed a long career as a secretary, for many years with General Tire executive offices then ending her career with the Akron Public Schools. After retiring she began a successful catering business that she enjoyed and was assisted by her late son Andrew Policy. Elsie was the heart and soul volunteer extraordinaire at the Phyllis Zumkehr County Clothing Center in Ravenna, Ohio. She worked tirelessly on many projects but her proudest accomplishment was the Santa’s Closet at Christmas! Elsie was very involved with the Kent American Legion. She enjoyed traveling the world with her daughter, son-in-law and grandsons and her favorite destinations were Amsterdam and Molokai Hawaii. Her grandsons were the Light of her Life and will miss her dearly. She loved spending time with her siblings, mostly at Hartville Kitchen. In her younger days, Elsie was an avid photographer and became the family’s official photographer. Elsie loved Stricklands Ice Cream and Graeters Black Raspberry Chip.
Surviving Elsie is her daughter Louann (Jerry) Burress and her loving grandsons: Hunter and Griffin Burress. Also surviving are her brothers Bill, Fred and Jim Edwards and sisters: Polly Sample and Retha (Jack) Baughman.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard Policy, her son Andrew Policy and sisters: Genia Ware and Dorothy Blevins and her brother Richard Edwards.
Friends will be received on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, from 4:00pm until the funeral service beginning at 5:30pm. Interment at Restland Cemetery in Brimfield will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2018.
