Florence was born in Akron, Ohio on October 24, 1953 to parents Walter and Florence (Ayers) Batter. Florence had been an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish where she instructed PSR classes and was a Eucharistic minister. She also loved being a 4-H advisor with Portage Pets for eleven years and enjoyed teaching children. Florence was an avid reader and had a zest for learning. She loved ducks and enjoyed raising Bob White Quails. In her spare time she liked all kinds of puzzles.
Florence is survived by her husband, Stephen A. Spear, whom she married shortly after high school in November 1971. She also leaves her children: Laura (Randy) Rasile of Ravenna, Matthew Spear of Ravenna, Keith (Anna) Spear of Suffield and Jennifer (Eric) Stephens of Edinburg. Also surviving are Florence’s grandchildren: Michael & Alexandria Spear and Cecilia & Ava Stephens and her sisters Jo Ann Ross of New Philadelphia, Jean (Larry) Cole of Tallmadge and Bernadette (Randy) Oblisk of N. Canton.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Bonnie Livingston and Mary Batter.
Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 10:00am until the funeral service, officiated by Rev. David Misbrener, beginning at 11:30am. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
