He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on November 3, 1957 to parents James R. and Hazel M. (Smith) Sands Sr. Floyd was a mechanic all of his life and could fix anything. He would help anyone, even if they didn’t have money to pay him. He was a character who had many “Floydisms” that will be cherished by those he left behind and he loved having a good time just hanging out with friends and family. Floyd always lived for today. He liked to fish and cook and most important in Floyd’s life was that he adored his kids and grandkids and was so proud of their accomplishments.
Floyd is survived by his children: Tanya (Jeff) Bournival and Randy (Alicia) Sands. Surviving also are his grandchildren: Matthew, Kody & Olivia Harper and Jordan, Jett, Jaxon & Jagger Sands. Also left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, Cheryl Sands. He also leaves his siblings: Bonnie (Butch) Roosa, Martha (Brownie) Lovejoy, Ruth (Kenny) Timms, Jim (Cathy) Sands, Janet (Tim) Craft and his twin sister Flo (Rod) Stanely, Clara (Perry) Jones and Faye (Dale) Hunt and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tony Rosego and Barbara Sands.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters: Dolly Freitag, Mary Rosego and his brother A.J. Sands.
Friends will be received on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E Main St, Ravenna, from 10:00am until the 12:00pm Funeral Service officiated by Pastor Brad Edder. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
