He was born January 11, 1948, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents Ethel (Deuley) and Fred K. Morrison. Fred graduated from Ravenna High School in 1966 and then attended Kent State University.
He proudly served his country as a veteran of the US Army in the Vietnam War. Later, Fred joined the American Legion Post 496 in Kent. Fred was happy to let anyone know that he was RETIRED, after many years of making containers for Rock Tenn.
Fred leaves behind his loving wife and soulmate, Catherine A. (Barnes) Morrison, who he married June 15, 1968. Also surviving are his loving daughters: Virginia (David) Eston, Mary (Tom) Sandlin, his bonus daughter Holly Spohn, and three grandsons who he adored, and who adored him: Zachary Sandlin, Jacob Sandlin, and Christopher Eston. Fred loved his family fiercely, as they did him.
Fred had a soft spot for his pets. He loved his dogs Spanky, Hashbrown, and Marabella. He was a jack-of-all-trades around the house and enjoyed working on projects. He also liked to play Wordle with his wife. Most of all, Fred cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandkids.
His wishes for cremation are being honored. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville on Monday, June 26, 2023, at 2:15 PM.
