Fred J. Fabry, age 77 of Ravenna, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022.
He was born June 15, 1945, in Youngstown, Ohio, to parents Frank and Mary Catherine (Hripko) Fabry. Fred worked at Kent State University as a police officer and then transitioned into Parking Services, from which he retired. Throughout his adult life, he continued a family tradition as a licensed barber, cutting hair at various barber shops, including John’s Barbershop in Ravenna.
A Football player and graduate from Rayen School in Youngstown, he carried his joy for sports into owning a sporting goods store in Kent for some time and then coaching his son’s sports teams all through their youth, even traveling across country to see his sons play as they got older.
He enjoyed all things family, especially reunions, card & game nights, holidays and going to the casino with his wife and friends. Fred was a beloved father and husband known for his big smile and kind heart by all those that interacted with him. He’d prefer anywhere he could sit with the people he loved and exchange jokes, stories and memories.
Fred is survived by his children: Christine Fabry, Brent (Jessica) Fabry, and Paul (Candice) Fabry, his grandchildren: Jesse Fabry, Cameron Fabry, Brandon Craig, Berkley Fabry, and Chelsea Fabry, as well as his sister Francey Tkach and many loving extended family members.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Heather Fabry (Speck), and his sisters Mary Ann Lessick and Rita Iacobucci.
His wishes for cremation are being honored. Friends and family will be received Saturday, October 1, 2022, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM with a memorial service celebrated by Chaplain Bill Wisniewski at 11:00 AM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E.
