Fred was employed at Sheridan Press in Brimfield, Ohio where he was a binary operator.
Fred was born and raised in Ravenna and attended Ravenna Public School where he was a stellar athlete in football and basketball. His friends called him “Good Game”. To most of his family he was “Freddie”.
Fred loved sports. He enjoyed watching football, basketball, baseball, golf, and NASCAR on TV. His favorite NFL team was the San Francisco 49ers and his favorite college team was Florida State Seminoles.
Fred graduated from Ravenna High School in 1987. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he completed four years of active-duty service before becoming a Reservist. He was a veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm Wars and affiliated with the Navy for about 10 years. After leaving the Navy, he became a resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee where he met and married his wife, Rhonda Craddock. The two of them became foster parents to Rod Jones. After 10 ½ years, they divorced and Fred returned home to Ravenna. Shortly after returning home, he met his fiancé, Tina Miles.
Fred was a son, brother, uncle, father figure and grandpa. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: parents: Eddie and Geraldine Wright, brothers: Eddie Wright Jr. and Denova (Bridgette) Wright, sisters: Savetta Wright and Debra Burton (Peanut), nephews: Denoah Wright and Fabian Wright, nieces: Alexis Wright and Carriena Wright, uncles: Gerald (Majester) Luttrell, Madison (Pat) Davis and Tony (Chub) Dunaway, aunts: Daisy (Will) Strong, Louise Parnell, Paulette Luttrell, Anita Luttrell, Pauline LaPaugh and Madeline (Mae Mae) Dunaway, and a host of family and friends. Fred also became an integral member of his fiancé Tina’s family, and is survived by her children: Austin, Isaac, Makia (Will) Heltzel, her sister Rebecca Johnson, her brother Christopher Johnson, her mother and step-father Jessica and Lonnie Holbrook, along with a host of grandchildren.
Fred is preceded in death by: grandparents Fred Wright Sr. (Eddie Mae), Lucius (Connie Jones), Hugh Kirkwood and Lee Dunaway; brother Willie James Halloway; sister Rochelle Burton; aunts and uncles Bo (Margaret) Davis Fred (Gloria) Wright, Lillie Mae Wright, Edith Wright-Monroe, James Wright, Ivy Luttrell, Bonnie (Bon Bon) Dunaway and a 2nd mother Rasheedah Hassan.
Friends and family will be received Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 9:00 – 11:00 AM with a funeral service officiated by Pastor Virgil Brainard at 11:00 AM the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. A time of fellowship will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
