

Mr. Stroup worked for Union and Statewide Cartage trucking for over 40 years before retiring in 1989. He was also involved in farming with his family for his entire life.
Mr. Stroup graduated from Atwater High School in 1945. He loved nature, wildlife, travel, and history. Gerald was an avid reader and extraordinarily self-educated.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Rebecca in 1968 and a brother David in 2008. He was married to his wife Kathryn for 44 years before her death in 1994.
He is survived by his five children: Daniel (Bonnie) Stroup, Debra (Kenneth) Gould, Stephen (Lisa) Stroup, Kathleen (Bradley) Hill, and Linda (Ronald) Carter. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Amy (Gregory) Hall, Sarah (Jon) Gampo, Seth Gould, Allison and Emma Hill and Anna and Ian Carter and five great-grandchildren. Survivors also include his brothers Alan (Carol) Stroup of Cocoa, Florida and Roger (Mary) Stroup of Boston Mills, Missouri; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and the family will hold a private memorial service.
