She was born January 5, 1927, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents Harry and Pearl (Camden) Dillon. Hazel was a member of St. Peter of the Fields Parish in Rootstown. She worked for Kent State University for 32 years in food service. After retiring from KSU, Hazel took a short break to enjoy family and life. She enjoyed volunteering at RMH and dedicated over 12,000 hours of service. Hazel loved to travel, tend to her flowers, and watch the birds at her home.
She is survived by her brothers: Bob (Judy) Dillon and Dick Dillon of Florida, sisters: Wilma Crum and Betty Morris of Ohio, also her children: John Baclawski, Ron (Margaret) Baclawski, Thomas (Janice) Baclawski, Jo Anne (Jerald) Nichols, and Sylvia King. Hazel’s memory will also be cherished by her 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
On August 25, 1945, Hazel married the love of her life, Chester Baclawski. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1981.
Friends will be received Thursday, August 29, 2013, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at St. Peter of the Fields Catholic Church, 3487 Old Forge Rd., Rootstown. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend David Misbrener immediately following at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at St. Peter of the Fields Cemetery.
