Helen Marie (Kaminsky) Fayak

Helen M. (Kaminsky) Fayak, 91, of Commodore, died Monday, April 2, 2018, at the Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna, Ohio.

The daughter of John and Annie (Sperick) Kaminsky, she was born on Feb. 1, 1927, in Susquehanna Township, Cambria County.

A devoted Catholic, Helen was a member of the Church of the Resurrection parish. She was previously a member of the former St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church in Starford, where she wed her husband, Andrew J. “Andy” “Peanuts” Fayak on Feb. 28, 1943. Helen and Andy had shared 59 years of marriage when he passed away on April 20, 2002.

In her spare time, Helen delighted in playing bingo, crocheting and making pierogies with her family.

She loved bling, pansies and African violets. She enjoyed driving in the little red convertible Thunderbird sports car with her friend, John.

Helen gave the best baths to her grandbabies and always blew them kisses from the porch.

She is survived by her daughter, Anna L. Goodlin of Ravenna, Ohio; her four granddaughters: Jane Lupean and husband, Bob, of Brimfield, Ohio; Kelly Cornett and husband, Steve, of Brimfield, Ohio; Heather Niebauer and husband, Matt, of Ebensburg, and Jill Fayak of Ebensburg; her great-grandchildren: Alaina Lupean; Jared Cornett and wife, Miranda; Annaliese, Burke and Ardenne Niebauer; Ian and Kylie Anderson; and Colin, Jacob and Blaise Fayak.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Paul “Pete” A. Fayak, on Feb. 7, 2017; a son-in-law, William “Bill” Goodlin on Dec. 26, 2016; and her best friend, John Yanoski.

Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Rairigh Funeral Home Ltd., in Hillsdale, where a 1 p.m. funeral service will take place on Thursday afternoon immediately following the visitation. Fr. Anthony J. Klimko will officiate. Interment will follow in the St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Starford.
