Helen M. Yerega

Helen was born on July 3, 1958, in Cleveland, Ohio to parents John and Shirley A. (Campoy) Yerega. She attended South High School in Cleveland, Ohio.

Helen was primarily a homemaker over her lifetime that enjoyed her plants and tending to them and loved her dogs. She was a great cook and kept an immaculate home. Helen loved instant lottery tickets, Pepsi, ice cream and anything chocolate. She enjoyed watching Christmas movies all year long! Every day she had to have her raisin bread and matza crackers. Known also by her family as good at giving them all direction and known also as a certified shopaholic with an affinity to Amazon, Temu and groceries.

Helen was survived by her children Stephen Johns, Lisa (Cornell) Carter, Melissa (Keith) Landsberry and Gary (Charlotte) Johns Jr. She is also survived by her mother Shirley Yerega, sister Shirley DiFranco and her companion Larry Koynock. Left also to cherish her memory is her nephew John F.D. (Jennifer Lee) DiFranco, great-niece Olivia “Sweet Pea” DiFranco and great-nephew Greyson “Lil Chippy” Chevront. Helen also leaves her 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Missing her presence are her furry friends Buddy, Peanut and Baby Girl.

Helen was preceded in death by her father John Yerega, brother-in-law John DeFranco, ex-husband Gary Johns Sr. and stepdaughter Teresa Johns.

Family will receive friends at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, Ohio, on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 10:30am until 12pm. Funeral service, officiated by Pastor Dan Caruso, will begin at 12pm.
