

Jim was born on June 12th, 1956, in Portsmouth New Hampshire. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Herman Burgoyne and Mary Anita (Nottage) Burgoyne.
Jim served his country as a U.S. Army Veteran where he was honorably discharged. He went on to live in Ravenna for 28 years where he worked at Ashton Sound and Communications before his retirement in 2024.
Jim was a gentle soul with deep loyalty. He has a passion for cars, specifically old muscle cars and NHRA drag racing. Jim also enjoyed riding his motorcycle “George” with the love of his life, Suzanne (Suzie). One of his greatest memories with “George”, being in South Dakota when he came side by side with a bison. Jim was a lover of animals, with many furry friends calling him Dad over the years. Jim had a larger-than-life sense of humor where he often expressed his love through jokes. He also immersed himself in cooking, spending much time trying to learn and perfect his craft. He will be deeply missed.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, Suzanne Dougherty, his sister Serena Reynolds of Rhode Island, and his son Daniel Burgoyne of UNK. Along with his chosen children, Michael Denyer and Melissa (Terry) Davis. His grandchildren, Jonny (Kelly) Davis, Ben (Dani) Davis, Zach (Ellysia) Davis, Kayla Sharar, Alexis (Abdel) Denyer, Reagan and Kai Davis, Aubrey Davis, Natalee Denyer, and Trinity Denyer and his dearest friends, Kirby Gladin of Virginia and Joe and Deb Imler of Mantua.
A private family viewing was held at Wood-Kortright-Borkoski funeral home in Ravenna, Ohio on December 5th, 2025. His final resting place will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio. Military Honors will be held at a later date, to be announced on this obituary when scheduled.
