James N. Minor

Jim was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 31, 1946, to David and Cora (Susie) Minor. He was a long-time resident of the Ravenna area.

Jim’s skills and precision, along with his creativity, led to a long career as a toolmaker. And it showed in his love of woodworking – which brought enjoyment to him and treasures for the family. He enjoyed fishing and projects whenever he could. But mostly he enjoyed the precious time with friends and family. In his later years his grand nieces and nephews especially warmed his heart. That, along with his own unique character and wry sense of humor, leaves us with lots of great stories and fun and loving memories.

He is survived by Susan, his wife of 43 years, and his brother David Minor. He will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law: Mike (Kathy) Weathers, John (Sunny) Weathers, Nancy (Ray) Crumpton; Bill, Susan and Matt McLaughlin; beloved nieces and nephews Doug Weathers, Mike (Amber) Minor, Vickie (Mike) Zbozien, Jan (George) Marx, Jim Minor, Desire’ (Chris) Burdine, Billy (Tabitha) Minor, Joey McLaughlin, Kyle McLaughlin, Ray Crumpton, Jennifer Quackenbush, Amanda (Tony) Kipe;, Rhett and Heath McBride; and many beloved great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wesley and Steven, brother-in-law Pat McLaughlin; nephews Ken Minor, Brett McLaughlin and niece, Jean Kraynak.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Portage Community Chapel with Pastor Barry Shahan officiating.
