
He was born July 14, 1920 in Mannington, W.V. the son of the late James J. and Ida Mae Michaels Newell. Mr. Newell had retired from the Defense Construction Supply Center as a machine tool repairman. He was a U. S. Marine Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Hillsboro First Baptist Church, Johnstown Ohio American Legion Post and had been a member of the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by one daughter, Iris Days of Groveport, OH, two sons, Harold (Debbie) Newell of Columbus, Ken (Dee) Newell of Marengo, OH, ten grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha French Newell on January 15, 2000, one son, Howard Newell, one daughter Diana Samples, three sisters, Ocie Newell, JoAnn Hayes, Sylvia Michaels and three brothers, Lawrence, Vincent and marvin Newell.
Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 28th at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home in Ravenna, OH. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Deerfield Township Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, July 26th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro, OH and from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 28th at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home in Ravenna.
