James G. Sipes

He was born December 28, 1936, in Wayne Township, Pennsylvania, to parents George Raymond and Genevieve Rebecca (Wilson) Sipes. Jim worked as a furniture maker at Marble Chair in Bedford. He was also a skilled carpenter who built and remodeled many homes, including his own.

Jim was a member of the Lake Milton Baptist Temple and the Atwater Lions Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Jim also enjoyed bowling in his younger years.

Jim is survived by his wife of 15 years Carol (Litzenburg Goebelbecker) Sipes, as well as his children: Kevin (Pam) Sipes, Debbie (Brian) Carver, Robin (John) Barns, Bonny Worthy, Patty (Tom) Miller, Amy Judy, and Robert (Jean) Goebelbecker. Jim’s memory will also be cherished by his brother Jerry Sipes, grandchildren: Michael (Nicole) Freetage, Kristy (Mike) John, and Kevin (Sondra) Sipes Jr., as well as his great-grandchildren: Colton, Landen, Logan, Wyatt, Elijah, and three more on the way.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jimmy Sipes, his daughter Linda Gray, his brother Jeff Sipes, and his sister Rhilla Wages.

Jim’s wishes for cremation are being honored. Friends will be received Friday, November 18, 2016, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Lake Milton Baptist Temple, 415 S State Route 534, Diamond, OH 44412. Pastor Aaron Dowler will officiate the memorial service following at 11:00 AM. Private inurnment will occur at Deerfield Cemetery on a later date.
