James Junior Spence

He was born June 16, 1935, in Lewisville, Ohio, son of Haward Francis and Violet Iva (McCollum) Spence, Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ravenna. He retired as the plant engineer at Collins & Aikman, the former Paeco Rubber Company. Jim was a member of the Ravenna Elks Lodge 1076 and also a life member of the Ravenna Lions Club. His greatest joy in life came from the time he spent with his family, whether it was traveling in his motor home, fishing, or racing.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years Vivian (Daniels) Spence; children: Jodie (Charles) Good of Coolidge, AZ and Jerry (Rachel) Spence of Charlestown; mother: Violet Spence of Mantua; brother: Steve (Nina) Spence of Mantua; sisters: Janette (Charles) Fear of Casa Grande, AZ, Mary Nemeth of Kent, and Betty Carden of Brimfield; also survived by grandchildren: Pamela (Doug) Swan and Sarah Jones; great-grandchildren: Paige and Joey Swan.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Haward Spence and his first wife Lelda Spence.

Friends will be received Thursday, September 23, 2010, from 6-8 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, where funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Scott Purdum on Friday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
