Jamie Orlin Whitely, was born June 1, 1975, he lived life the way he wanted, and after 44 short, fun filled years, left this world with a bang on the 4th of July 2019.

Jamie graduated from Rootstown High School in 1994 and went on to work for Parker-Hannifin in Ravenna for 23 years. He was a devoted husband, proud father, and a loving son and brother.

Jamie was one of the “good ole’ boys.” He loved the outdoors, especially riding ATV’s, fishing, hunting, and shooting trap. Jamie was well known for his bonfires and driving derby cars at the Portage County Randolph Fair.

Jamie never met a stranger. He was willing to help others, even if it meant that he went without. Jamie cherished the time spent with his kids, whether it was going to horse shows or baseball and softball games. He became quite the amateur photographer for the family.

On November 2, 2013, he married Kelly (Rothrock), after going hunting first, of course. She survives Jamie, along with his children: Jadelyn Leara Whitely, Coy James Whitely, and Kaitlyn June Yeargin. Also surviving are Jamie’s parents Bruce and Sandy Whitely, sister Tori (Eric) Noel, niece Zoë Noel, nephew Seth Noel, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Jamie was preceded in death by his grandparents Orlin and Leara Hale and Carl and Wanda Whitely.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jamie’s life on Thursday, July 11, 2019, from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at Grace Church of Rootstown, 4808 Tallmadge Rd, Rootstown, with a service following at 6:00 PM. Please keep it casual and wear your camo. Procession will form at Grace Church on Friday at 10:00 AM and interment will follow at Atwater Cemetery.

Condolences and memories may be shared at www.wood-kortright-borkoski.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Jamie Whitely Memorial Fund being established at Chemical Bank. Special thanks to the full staff of UH Portage Medical Center, especially to the cardiovascular services department, for the care given to Jamie. First, I would like to express my sincere heartfelt condolences for the entire Whitely family. Next - how to only add A memory? There’s far too many to pick just one. All I know is I’m missing you brother. I’m going to miss your texts every deer and turkey season, asking each other if we got one or not yet. Bringing sheds to work to show each other. Trading pics of trucks , trail - cams & deer we got. Dressing our deer mounts up for the holidays. I’ll miss sending you my wife’s music demos, and you sending me your photography pics, and critiquing each other‘s work. You were her biggest fan! I miss our fist bumps and the “sup brother“ from you every morning. Fond memories of us getting off work on third shift, and sitting out in your Silverado for hours banging your sound system. LOL. You were a good friend man. I miss you. Gone far too soon

This family was my second family.
You were like my brother. I can not hold tears back. I run into strangers and we get talking about stuff and they knew you. You left a mark on so many people and made so much joy in their lives. In mine as well
My kid and his buddy looked up to you. So many did. You took kids on like your own and were so kind.
Im greatful my boy had the pleasure of being part of your family.
I can go on with stories and memories. I have tons. As we all do.
Ill just say this.
A light here on earth went out July 4th 2019 and one is brighter than the sun in heaven.
You are and will forever be missed .
My love to you.
Ma- chelle. .
