Jean was born to parents Anthony and Angelina (Volpe) Sicuro in Ravenna, Ohio on January 21, 1925. Jean graduated from Ravenna High School with the class of 1941. She resided in Ravenna until 1953, moving to Nebraska, then returning to Kent in 1959.
Jean had a long career as a secretary, enjoying her time spent at Davey Compressor and Kent State University, where she retired after 20 years of service. She had been a member of Immaculate Conception Church, liked playing cards and bridge, enjoyed flower gardening and loved her dogs. Jean enjoyed her travels to Ireland and especially loved Hawaii, having visited several times.
She is survived by her daughter Pam (Jim) Bott, nephews: John (Connie) Flynn, Tom (Edie) Sicuro, John Malene; nieces Diane (Art) Dalton, Mary (Tim) Toppen and many loving friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Carpenter and her siblings.
Private family graveside service and inurnment is planned at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ravenna.
Jean’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to everyone at Kent Ridge, especially nurse Tammy, care partners Heavin, Shirley, Joanne, Tyese, social worker Lisa and to the all of the staff and Chaplain of Traditions Hospice for their care and compassion given to Jean.
