She was the daughter of the late Laurel and Mildred Chalker. Jean enjoyed bowling, playing cards and having yard sales. She also babysat many neighborhood children. Jean was also a very active member of the Chapel in Marlboro.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Herman, six siblings, great-granddaughters Jaymie Karnuth and Shyanne Karnuth and son-in-law Allen Nitz.
She is survived by her daughters Kathy (Dave) Burtscher, Karen Nitz, Kelly Troyer and Kim (Jim) Headrick. Surviving also are grandchildren Amy (Jason McDowell) Criss, Glenda (Art Aldridge) Criss, David Flathers, Chuck (Kathy) Karnuth, Heather (Steven) Mosel, and Megan Troyer. Jean is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and two siblings.
Family will receive friends at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 10am until the funeral service, officiated by Pastor Joel Cochran beginning at 12pm. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph.
