He was born September 18, 1942, in Barberton, Ohio, son of Delores and Curtis Eldridge. Jeff grew up in Rootstown and was raised by his parents Curtis and Norma Eldridge. He graduated from Rootstown High School in 1960 and then from Kent State University with a degree in chemistry and a minor in marketing.
Jeff proudly served his country as a member of the US Air Force. He worked in communications within Kunia Tunnel, a 3-story underground structure in Hawaii, sending and receiving messages during the Vietnam War. When he returned home, Jeff began his career as a chemist with General Tire and Rubber. He became the Technical Group Leader of the Extrusion Group for the entire Akron Tire Plant, as well as traveling to plants all over the county and in Germany. Following a merger with Continental Tire, he then transferred to the corporate engineering group in Charlotte, North Carolina, and ultimately retired in 1996.
Jeff was an active member of the Rootstown community. He was a devoted member of First Congregational UCC of Rootstown, serving as a moderator and trustee at the church. He frequently volunteered his time for various charitable causes such as being an active member of the local Outreach Committee and the Rootstown Light Up Committee during the holidays.
Jeff enjoyed working around the house, and maintaining his yard. He loved his pets, but most of all, he cherished his time spent with his family.
