February 14, 1962 – May 8, 2026
Jeff Whitcomb, a devoted father, son, brother, and lifelong technologist and artist, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Garfield Heights, Ohio, on Valentine’s Day in 1962, Jeff was the son of the late Quentin R. Whitcomb and Janet S. Whitcomb (Galer). A 1977 graduate of Nordonia High School, he began a lifelong and deeply personal pursuit of knowledge, creativity, and craftsmanship that would define both his career and his character.
From childhood, Jeff found joy and refuge in creating. Whether drawing, painting, sculpting, or playing guitar, art was always part of who he was. Professionally, he was equally passionate about technology and innovation. Jeff spent decades as a Senior Member at a major wireless carrier, where he worked since 1991, and also owned and operated a hosting and web solutions company. He loved to build, solve problems, and continually challenge himself to learn something new.
Outside of work, Jeff cherished life’s simple adventures. He loved camping and boating, enjoying the peace and freedom of the outdoors. At home, he could often be found with a guitar in hand, immersed in a video game, experimenting with a new recipe, or diving into another personal project or YouTube tutorial—always curious, always learning.
Jeff is survived by his children, Christina (Ryan) Van Alstyne, Jeffrey Whitcomb Jr., Stephanie (Patrick) Logan, and Brandon Whitcomb; his mother, Janet Whitcomb; his sister, Sheryl (Dave) Jones; his beloved grandchildren, Benjamin and Quinn; and many friends and colleagues who admired his intelligence, humor, creativity, and generous spirit.
He will be remembered for the immense pride he took in his children and family, his artistic and technical talents, his adventurous spirit, and his unwavering belief that knowledge was meant to be shared.
No public services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family suggests taking a moment to teach someone something new — a fitting tribute to Jeff’s lifelong love of learning and helping others grow.
