

Joseph was born to parents Joseph S. and Gertrude (Covert) White Sr. in Wilks-Barre, PA. on February 16, 1943. Joseph was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce and retired after enjoying a 40 plus year career in multiple states as a minister for the Salvation Army. He was devoted to helping many men through addiction rehabilitation, touching many lives.
He passionately served as a 32nd degree Mason and also enjoyed his involvement with the Shriners and the Lions Club. Joseph was a model train enthusiast and enjoyed his spare time woodworking. He loved building things. Most of all, Joseph was a devoted, loving husband and father.
Joseph is survived by his children Christine (Stephan) Gonzales and his son Joe (Merrie) White. Left also to cherish his memory are his grandchildren Matthew White, Stephanie Gonzales, Joseph (Vicki Sauer) White, and Jared White. Surviving also are great-grandchildren Lucas Russell, Aliyah Russell, and his sister Karen (Leonard) Karrott.
Private family services and Masonic service will be held at Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home. Celebration of Life service, officiated by ministers Jim Reynolds and Bea Connell, will be held at 11am on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Salvation Army, 190 South Maple St., Akron, Ohio, 44302.
