Kathy was born June 27, 1944, and was a lifelong resident of Rootstown and Ravenna.
She is survived by her children Katrina Peyton (Danny), and Matthew Platt. Granddaughters Brittany Peyton and Chelsey Ritchey. Great Grandchildren – Becca, Gia, Juliette, Dannee, and Vincenzo. Her Brother George Black (Janice), extended family, and many wonderful friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Platt, father George Black, mother Lily Maciel, brother Van Note Black (Mary Jane) and sister Karen Maciel.
Through the years she attended the First Congregational Church in Ravenna, Congregational Church in Rootstown and The First Church of God in Ravenna. She worked for Ravenna City Schools as a Librarian at Carlin Elementary, Hartville Veterinary Clinic, and Kroger in Ravenna. She was a hard worker, often working additional jobs, and she gave every job her best efforts.
She loved the kids from school, her vet family and all she encountered. No one was a stranger to Kathy, and she instantly befriended all she met. She was an animal lover and would often bring home a stray or try to find it a home. Her dog Hobo brought her great comfort.
She loved deeply and was endlessly proud of her family. She spent her entire life taking care of others and doing acts of kindness to show love and encourage people. She focused on the good in everyone and stayed positive in the worst of situations. She always had a smile, pleasant comment and would arrive with a token gift.
She will be dearly missed but welcomed by many as she enters the presence of God.
