

He was born June 25, 1940 in Alliance, Ohio the fourth child of Joseph & Lucille (Springer) Legros. He was 1958 graduate of Alliance High School. Larry lived in Deerfield since 1961. He was the owner, operator of Larry’s Sohio on the circle of Deerfield, was a truck driver and manager for Pennzoil Company in Deerfield and retired from Ergon Trucking in 2002.
He belonged to Deerfield United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities over the years. A former member of the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Dept, he was a charter member of the Deerfield Ruritan Club.
He was a proud member of Charity Masonic Lodge of Deerfield, where he served as Master in 1974, and Treasurer for 23 years. He served as District Deputy of the 25th Masonic District 1980-82. He received the Knight York Cross of Honour in 1985 and the Scottish Rite 33rd degree in 1994. Larry was also a member and served as Patron of Palmy Chapter O.E.S. of Deerfield.
Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and photographing wildlife. Since his retirement in 2002 he especially enjoyed traveling the U.S.A. and Canada in his RV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 44 years Janet (Unkefer) Legros in 2004, daughter Sandra Legros in 2021, grandchildren Joseph Michael Legros and Grace Marie Legros, and brothers David (Marjorie) Legros of Alliance and Richard (Juanita, second wife) Legros of North Carolina and Jane Legros first wife of Florida.
Larry is survived by: son Thomas (Lydia) Legros of Ravenna, Ohio. Grandchildren Robert, Craig, Elizabeth, Luke, Carrie (Jeff) Johnson, Rebekah, Faith, and Laura. Sisters Loduska (Dwain) Heastand of Louisville and Susanne (Gary) Gieseman of Louisville. Sister-in-law Sharon (David) Unkefer of Uniontown. His beloved best friend and traveling companion Judith E. Corley of Deerfield and her loving family, who referred to him as “Papa Larry,” and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held at The Deerfield United Methodist Church on Saturday Jan.20, 2024. Friends will be received from 1:30 to 3:30. Masonic Services will be held immediately after, to be followed by a traditional memorial service. Internment will be at Deerfield Cemetery in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Deerfield United Methodist Church, 1483 S.R. 225, Deerfield, Ohio 44411 or The Alliance Shrine Club for Shriner’s Hospitals for Children at: Dale R.
