Leonard Winland

Leonard K. Winland, age 95 of Rootstown, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020.

He was born July 2, 1925, in Elm Grove, West Virginia, to parents Alva and Opal (Henthorn) Winland. Leonard was a hard worker who was a heavy equipment operator for Nowak Excavating and later Moser Construction.

He was a longtime member of St. Peter of the Fields Parish. Leonard enjoyed playing poker with his friends and spending his spare time with his grandkids.

Leonard is survived by his children: Martin (Janet) Winland and Faye (Jack) Duffy. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Sheila Barchalk, Sandy (Shawn) Newpher, Tammy Bencivengo, John Duffy, Alice Crum, Mike Duffy, Susan (Mark) Taylor, Lisa Reynolds and 16 great-grandchildren. Leonard is also survived by his siblings: Wilda Groves, Ruby (Robert Dean) Hupp, Gene (Janet) Winland, Wanda Rush, Nancy Craig, and Frank (Carol) Winland, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Leonard was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jane Marie Winland on December 17, 2011. He was also preceded by his parents, his brothers Floyd and Virgil Winland, his sister Betty June Suhta, and his great-grandson Ben Duffy.

Friends and family will be received Saturday, October 17, 2020, from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at St. Peter of the Fields Catholic Church, 3487 Old Forge Rd, Rootstown, with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Reverend Zachary Coulter at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park.

So sad ! I worked with Sandy & Sheila at Liberty Mutual. So sorry for your loss i remember my Great Grandfather , who i cherished, and my Grandfather who i also cherished. So i understand your loss.
