

He was born May 13, 1932, in Fairpoint, Ohio, the son of the late Luther and Ersley (Edgell) Groves Sr. Bud retired from the GM plant in Lordstown, after working at AC Williams for 18 years. He was a member of the North Main Street Church of Christ in Bethesda, and a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War. Bud enjoyed hunting, playing cards, and farming. Most of all, he was devoted to his grandsons.
Bud is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Jodi Groves of Paris Township; grandsons: Matt and Nick Groves; brother: Eugene (Shirley) Groves of Rootstown; sister: Evelyn Pastva of Ravenna; and fiancé Norma Marmie of Bethesda; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Lois Irene Groves in 2005, his parents, brother James Groves, and sisters Violet Pastva, Elizabeth Surgenour, and Maryann Groves.
Friends will be received Monday, September 12, 2011, from 6-8 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, where funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Brian Oglesbee on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow with military honors at Charlestown Cemetery.
