Nick and Family,
     I was very saddened to read about Madonna's passing.  I still read the Record Courier even though I left Ravenna 58 years ago.  My parents, Dominic "Minger" and Stella Tamburro grew up with you in Ravenna as you well know.  Madonna was my mother's best friend.  I am sure she is happy to be reunited with her in heaven.  Nick, I carry with me every day the memories and gratitude of your and Madonna's hospitality you extended to me, my wife, Uncle Bobo, cousin Mike and Aunt Josephine on our trip to Ravenna in 2008.

Her warm beautiful smile!! Madonna always made you feel like you were the only person in the room. Always happy to see you and could light up the room anywhere she went! We will miss her dearly and feel so privileged to have known her.

where to even begain?????   I don't know , she was so kind , an filled with  grace and love for all. a memorie was a  little joke here it is I was to go to work for helen tortarella for the 1st time .but in the middle of the night ,helens father passed away,my phone ring and it was Madonna! she told me what happened and said you come to my house and clean .ok so I went ,she let me in and left me never knowing me (lol) from that ay on they fussed over had me 1st!!as  a joke.i cleaned and she ask that I put her Christmas things out for her and I did  and that was the start  of me and her 30 some yrs  spent togearther with her and the beautiful familes of I think 25 that I worked for I loved her and always will and all the family I was blessed that day!!!


Such a lovely lady and great mom to one of my good friends, Carm.  My deepest sympathy goes out to all of the Mendiola family.  

Oh my gosh, what can I say about this beautiful lady?  She was always there for me, whether I asking her for advice or having her convince my mom to let me do something.   

So many memories to post, but one that really sticks out is that in the summers we would all be at the pool and when dinner was over and every one was gone I would say ok let’s go and I would take my mom and Aunt Madonna on a ride.  I would take them to places I don't think either one of them knew existed in the Ravenna area.  This one particular day I took them to a kind of shady part of a surrounding town and Aunt Madonna said "look we need to be more like them, look at them sitting on their porch with their beers and not a care in the world".  I just laughed and said "yes we do".... then we would go to Dairy Queen and get my dad and Uncle Nicky a little treat. After I moved to Canton, Aunt Madonna would call to check up on me and I always knew it was time to come up and see them.

I am and always will be proud to be "Little Madonna"  Rest in peace my namesake.  I love you.

I have many wonderful memories of Aunt Madonna during my life, but many come  from the time she helped me with my first baby, Elizabeth, after my own mother died, until just a month ago. She knew her body was failing her, but if I said, you want to go get a pedicure?” She was all in. That usually led to lunch, a visit to Wal-Greens, maybe St. Mary’s Cemetary to say hello to grandma (her mother). Often I would take her to Kent to Standing Rock to say hello and a little prayer for Aunt Verna and  our cousin, Maryanna. We would detour sometimes to Grandview and say hi to my mom, her baby sister.  Finally we would end going down “Memory Lane”, which was Meridian Street. I loved hearing the stories of their childhood, and who lived in what house and when they would have to run up or down the street to get someone to take a phone call, because they were the only ones that had a phone back then. I’m so happy and thankful that I spent time just visiting with Aunt Madonna and Uncle Nick, and helping out when I could. I will miss her tremendously, but I’m glad she’s walking tall again without the pain in her knees, and free from a body that did so much during her 92 years, that it just gave out on her.  She is one that went straight up to Heaven, no questions asked. RIP Aunt Madonna. I love you.

Madonna was a very special lady. We were very fortunate  to spend time with her the last 28 years and she was always a delight to be around. We will miss her and never forget her smile. Love Monna and Jim
