She was born December 14, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan. She was married to George McClellan who preceded her in death in 2008.
Marillyn was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and was a fierce protector. Her words of encouragement, wisdom, and sometimes comfort, kept us in line (mostly), taught us the ‘school of hard knocks’, and gave us something to pass down to our children and grandchildren. She was practical to a fault, but gathered people to her, young and old, and inspired loyalty from family, friends of family, and friends of friends. She always told you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear, but always had a warm hug and a wicked chuckle.
Marillyn lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker and worker in the retail and banking sectors until her health condition made it impossible: however, her most favorite job was owning her highly successful crafting business, which brought her many hours of pleasure.
She will be sorely missed and survived by her children, Debra (John) Harp-Vinson, Sheryl Sommers, James (Sue) Harp, and Steven (Kerry) Harp, as well as multitudes of grandkids, nieces, nephews, greats and great-greats, and her special ‘adopted’ daughter, Sherry (Carl) Myers.
Private family services and interment with her late husband George were held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
