

She was born May 8, 1948, in Ravenna, Ohio, a daughter of the late Mason and Eleanor (Seymour) McConnell. Marty grew up on the McConnell’s Fruit Farm and was a longtime member of the Edinburg United Church.
Marty graduated from Muskingum College and later earned her Master’s Degree in the Art of Teaching from Mary Grove College. Her love of music lead to Marty’s career as a music teacher with Southeast School District for over 33 years. She also taught countless of private piano lessons from her home. Throughout the years, Marty played the piano or organ for over 200 weddings, 2,500 church services, and many community choir events.
Above all, she was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother. On June 12, 1971, Marty married Richard Hatcher. Surviving also are their children: Derek (Margie) Hatcher of Ravenna and Andrew (Kim) Hatcher of Bainbridge, and their grandchildren: Ellie, Mary, Ben, Robert, and Preston Hatcher. Marty’s memory will also be cherished by her sister Sue McConnell and her brother Alan (Maryellen) McConnell.
Friends will be received Monday, May 9, 2016, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Edinburg United Church. Friends may also call on Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the church, with the funeral service following at 11:00 AM, officiated by Reverend Timothy Paroz. Final resting place will be Edinburg Cemetery.
